YOUTH ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING, TODAY, MAY 4
The YAC will meet in the conference room following the service.

PILGRIMAGE OF CAREGIVING: TODAY
Following the 8:15 and 10:15 services the Reverend Stephen Shepherd
will lead a discussion on caregiving covering both the practical
and the spiritual aspects. This would be a wonderful opportunity to
invite a friend to church who is currently dealing with caregiving
issues as a spouse, a child, or in any context. Reverend Shepherd
is currently the chair for the Committee on Aging in the Diocese of
Virginia.

MAY BOOKWORMS TO MEET MAY 9
Our selection for May 9th is "Love in the Time of Cholera" by
Gabriel Garcia Marquey. The time and place of this novel is the
"steamy backwater of coastal Colombia of nearly a century ago." It
is a love story of two people over a period of more than fifty
years. And yes, it is a major motion picture. We will meet as usual
the second Friday of the month, May 9th, at 1:30 PM in the
conference room nest to the office. See you then. Helen Vogel

TONGUES OF FIRE CHILI COOK-OFF, MAY 11!
It's time to bring out your favorite chili recipe or conjure up a
new concoction as we gear up for one of St. Dunstan's most beloved
culinary traditions, our annual Chili Cook-off. Prepare to meet
serious and tasty competition as you imagine the glory of winning
the coveted Chili-Cook-off-Champion tee shirt and joining the
hallowed ranks of St. Dunstan's winners from the past. May 11 is
also Mother's Day, so what better way to start celebrating than by
enjoying chili and all the "fixins'" with your St. Dunstan's
family? Look for a sign up sheet in the vestibule and be sure to
bring an index card naming your chili (be creative!) and don't
forget, bring a friend.

CALLING ALL MUSICIANS, SCIENTISTS, GAMES LEADERS,
CRAFTERS, STORYTELLERS AND SHEPHERDS!

Summer Sunday School invites adults and young people to use your
gifts with our children. We have ideas and supplies so you need
only to come with your willingness to help children enjoy the
activity while learning a Biblical truth. We need help filling the
following positions:

- A musician is needed to lead children in simple songs, rhythms
and movement on July 6, Aug 17 and Aug 31.

- A scientist is needed to lead children in experiments on July 20,
Aug. 3, Aug 17, and Aug 31.

- A games leader is needed to lead games, some of them outside if
weather permits, on part of July 6, part of July 20, July 27, part
of Aug. 3, Aug. 10, part of Aug. 17, and Aug. 24.

- A crafts leader is needed on June 29, July 13, July 27, Aug 10,
and Aug. 24.

- Storytellers are needed on June 29, July 13, July 27, Aug 10, and
Aug. 24.

- Shepherds stay with one age group for the whole Sunday School
period and lead their group from one activity to another. Three
shepherds are needed every week from June 29 through Aug. 31
Please contact Randi Hicks Rowe at (703) 356 7533 or
dce@stdunstans.net to volunteer. This is a wonderful opportunity to
get to know our children better while also participating in an
activity you enjoy.
