The real heart of any congregation is
ministries through which people share themselves. St.
Dunstan's has a number of dynamic groups that provide
fellowship and leadership in the parish community.
Worship is an entire community event. Everyone is needed
to help make it happen! Our groups include: acolytes,
altar guild, chalicists, Adult and children's choirs,
greeters, healers, lectors, ministers of ceremony,
oblationers, flower guild, and ushers.
This page provides just a few examples
of active groups in the parish. For more specific information,
please contact the Parish Administrator at 703-356-7533
or at this email address:

Education & Outreach
There are groups that concentrate on education, which
includes the Sunday School as well as a number of Bible
Study Groups (John's Hopkins Bible Study, Share & Care,
Explorers Bible Study, Neighborhood Bible Study, Thursday
morning Bible Study). Other groups focus on outreach
opportunities, which includes monthly visits to Martha's
Table, as well as participation with Christmas in April,
the summer Appalachian mission, or Habitat for Humanity.
Fellowship
Fellowship at St. Dunstan's takes many forms. The
weekly Quilters group meets on Wednesdays to work on
craft projects and share some tea and a chat. The Friday
morning Play Group caters to the social needs of our
youngest members, and is fueled by pretzels and animal
crackers. The youth group meets once a month and often
joins with other Episcopal churches in the area for
shared events. The Supper Club is a St. Dunstan's institution,
having continued for more than forty years. The second
Saturday of the month is when folks mix up new recipes
or bring along old favorites for some casual conversation
in a friend's house. The hosting duties for Supper
Club rotate.
Women of St. Dunstan's
The Women of St. Dunstan's (WofSt.D's)
is once again active. The group is open and welcoming
of any women, and child care is provided at events.
There are several activities planned! Join us, and
bring a friend. Unless otherwise noted below, we will
meet on the fourth Tuesday of each month in the Undercroft's
Common Room at 7:30 p.m. for fun and fellowship. Transportation
to and from meetings is available for anyone who needs
it. For transportation or more information, please
contact Martha Taishoff or Toni Drain. Their phone
numbers are in the directory or can be obtained by
calling the parish office.
St. Dunstan's Bookworms
St. Dunstan's has a book group -- the Bookworms --
is open to all women and men in the church and the
community at large. We meet once each month on alternating
Saturday mornings and Wednesday evenings in the undercroft's
common room. You need not have read the monthly selection
to attend. For a list of titles under consideration
for future discussions, visit the schedule. For more
information, please contact parishioner Helen Vogel
or the parish office.

________________________________________
People are busy, and it can be easy
to be overwhelmed by the sheer volume of activity here
at St. Dunstan's. While we rejoice together in the
church on Sunday for worship, the majority of ministry
and support happens in small groups -- on Sunday and
throughout the week. If you don't find a group that
interests you, start your own! There is always an opportunity
to expand ministry opportunities within the parish
and into the world.
